I finally finished The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare, which means I'm on the hunt for a new series to read! This time, I checked out the coming of age section for both adults and teens/YA. My requirements were that book one was free, they had a minimum of a 4.3 average star rating and that the premise sounded interesting and a bit different from the other books. Check them out for yourself!

A little over a week ago, I asked my readers what kind of magic I should feature in my next stand-alone prequel. As a reminder, this prequel will be written and released chapter-by-chapter to my readers group, The Troupe. Periodically, I'll ask readers for input about the details of the story and/or where it should go next.
As of right now, this prequel will focus on how Gnash, one of Duncan's vampire lieutenants, became a vampire. It starts with with Sam (Gnash's human name) on a summer internship in Los Angeles. She's got three potential love interests: a vampire on the run from Duncan; a Diviner (a vampire hunter who uses magic to fight vampires) who's been excused from active duty; and her very-human, very-ex boyfriend. Part 1 is all about Sam discovering these love interests, culminating in a choice between them, which is where you readers will step in!
Now that the background's taken care of, we can move on to last week's question: What kind of magic should Sam's Diviner love interest have? The survey's closed, so I can now reveal the answer.

Welp, May's done, so you know what that means. It's goals time!
Warning: This is gonna be a rough one. I didn't factor in taking three days off for a roller derby "vacation" (i.e. an away tournament during which I could work, but it's no fun and less efficient to boot) and then having Memorial Day off here in the US. With how...um, let's say "challenging" I make my goals, it's hard for me to meet my goals with one day unaccounted for, let alone four.
Add in an unanticipated—but probably should have anticipated—rework of a bunch of the content of Book 3 and you've got a whole lot of fail coming up. But it's cool. We all learn more from failing than we do from succeeding, right? In which case, I've learned A LOT this month. :p
As usual, I'll update the progress on May's goals then set some June goals.
