Motivation Monday

It's official. I've reached my final round of edits for my next book. While this is awesome because it means I'll be able to release it to my advance readers (The Certain Cell) soon, it also means that I'm at the "I hate this book and everything about it" portion of the book's journey.

The good news is that, after three books, I know this is a natural phase for me. By the time I reach my final round of edits, I've been through the entire manuscript at least five times--and this book's probably double that since it's the first one I wrote and I had to figure some things out.

The bad news is that there's more pressure on this round of editing. For previous rounds I could say things like "this is good enough, I'll catch anything else during the next round." But this is it. Final. Done. This is my last chance to make my book the best it can be. So, what I'm saying is that this is a rough time for me as an author. And that that's ok because that's where today's #MotivationMonday quote steps in.

I'm not sure if it's a Thanksgiving hangover or if I'm excited about the progress I've been making with my books or about finally scheduling the cover design for the long-awaited book 1 (and updating the title!), but I've been feeling incredibly thankful lately. So that's what this week's #MotivationMonday (or #MondayMotivation if you prefer) is about: remembering to be thankful for all that I have.

Motivation Monday

When I'm working on a big project--such as, I don't know, writing, editing, and publishing a book--it's easy for me to get impatient. Why aren't I done yet? Other people would have finished by now. Something must be wrong with me. Maybe I should give up.

It's time like those when I pull out the following song, reminding myself to be patient. Just because I'm not getting things done as fast as I'd like now doesn't mean that I won't get faster (or better, etc.) over time. For now, I just have to put my head down and work.
