Guess what everyone? Today I hired a real, honest-to-goodness editor! And it wasn't nearly as terrifying as I thought it would be. (Don't get me wrong, my heartbeat is still elevated...just not raging like it was.)
Reading the sample edits was interesting, especially to see where editors agreed and where they disagreed, and it wasn't nearly as bruising to my ego as I thought it would be, which maybe says something about me and my worst case expectations. Anyway, just wanted to share the news. In the next couple weeks, I'm hoping to write a couple articles about my experience selecting an editor, in case there are any wanna-be authors out there (or for those who are curious).
