Why do I like Bill so much? Like so many of my #womencrushes, she's feisty and an independent thinker. She's resilient and determined when the inevitable Bad Stuff happens. She's also got a wicked sense of humor.

But what makes Bill stand out to me is that she's one of the few companions to not fall in love with the Doctor (or kinda sorta maybe have a crush on him)*. Depending on the episode, she and the Doctor are student and teacher, friends, and fighters, but there's nothing bordering on romantic. (Side note: Don't get me wrong, I loved Amy Pond, but sometimes it's nice to have a "No, dude, we're just friends" type of companion for the Doctor.)

*Note: Bill is gay, so one could argue that that's the sole reason that Bill doesn't fall for the Doctor. I choose to believe it's more than that (i.e. that even if Bill were straight or bi, she wouldn't be into the Doctor). Perhaps we'll see with the new lady Doctor? Or maybe Bill just lives happily ever after, no more Doctor visits needed.
