Women Crush Wednesday: Portia de Rossi
This week, I'm doing something a bit out of the ordinary...I'm picking a real person! Gasp! I don't usually pick real people because then I feel like I have to research all the philanthropists and otherwise-stellar women out there when really I just want to have a little fun recounting my favorite characters from TV, movies, and books. I made an exception for this actress because I keep on returning to the roles she's chosen.
So this week's choice is...Portia de Rossi!
I'll be honest: I don't know much about Portia de Rossi and her personal life since I don't really keep track of celebrities (although I did know that she's married to Ellen). But I love the roles she chooses. In Scandal and Better Off Ted, she plays powerful, ruthless women. You may not want to be bff's with them but you've gotta respect them.
I also admire how Portia de Rossi can deliver the most absurd lines with a straight face, whether that's as amoral boss Vernoica Palmer in Better Off Ted or as used-to-be-absurdly-wealthy ditz Lindsay Funke in Arrested Development. No matter whether it's in a drama or a comedy, I always enjoy Portia de Rossi's performances.
