March 2017 Goals

written by Betsy Flak on 2017-02-27

First, here's an update on February's goals:

  1. Success! I finished addressing the first round of my editor's comments for The Impossible Creation. Because I finished early, I was even able to finish the rough drafts of two of the secret bonus items that will accompany the launch of The Impossible Creation!
  2. As per usual, I did not get as much self-editing done as I wanted. I'm currently about halfway through Chapter 8 of An Uncertain Death (goal was Chapters 6, 7, and 8). On the bright side, I'm nearing the end of completely new material in Part 1, so the rest should go faster.
  3. After months of delay, finally success! Website is up (obviously) and sneak peek offer is live!

And now onto the goals for March:

  1. Prepare draft of The Impossible Creation for final readthrough(s).
  2. Continue the line-by-line self-editing for An Uncertain Death. Complete for Part 1 (approximately Chapters 8 - 14).
  3. Grow The Troupe to at least--sorry internal target that I'm not sharing with the public--people.

Keep an eye out for my April update to see how it went, a review of the first three months of 2017, and April's goals.

Side note: You may notice that the second goal for March looks a little crazy, considering I couldn't finish 3 chapters in all of February. There are a few things going on here. First, March has 5 weeks instead of 4 since I'm counting the month of March as starting today (easier to always have the month start on a Monday). Secondly, An Uncertain Death has been through several iterations and self-edits. For the past couple months, I've been editing almost all raw material, which can take awhile to shape into what I want it to be. Beginning with Chapter 9, I'm running into a bunch of scenes that have been self-edited multiple times. Obviously, these won't need nearly as much work as the earlier raw scenes. So I hope to greatly speed up (twice as fast is totally within reason). Even with those caveats, this is a stretch goal and I know that I likely will not make it. (But what if I doooooo? :p)
